Well look at that, I somehow made it to 2011. Haven’t died just yet!

Chugging along towards my goal of doing something that isn’t sitting in front of my computer, I have now purchased a new vehicle. Behold, the Disco.

Now that I have that, I can now start working on getting it ready to start my road trips of awesomeness. Which will involve me going around harassing women till I get kicked out of whatever establishment I am in. I have other plans for this as well. We will find out what those are later though, they are not that important right now.

Anyways, so more on my trip thing I want to do.

I need to figure some things out here, so lets travel down the road of thinking of random ass shit I would want to build/get for this.

First off we need a vehicle. I sure as fuck aint going to take my firebird nor will I be taking anything that starts with a Fo and ends with a cus. So looking at my options I pretty much ignore all reasonable choices and reliable choices and decide I really want to get a Land Rover for this. Why you ask? Cause I like em. I will have to go over it and verify that it should make it on the journey.

So first Item I need is a 98-04 Land Rover Discovery/Discover II. Then I will need to bring things to make sure I am ready for minor emergencies, oil/trans fluids, fix a flat, spare tire and whatever else.

Next I will need to figure out if I want to install some sort of navigation setup. I could use my phone for it, but whats the fun in that? I will have to look into what devices would be good if I don’t integrate it into my next item.

A car-puter. Either build a micro atx setup and stuff it in the back or put together a Beagle Board. I will need to integrate it into the cars audio system so that means I will have to put a decent aftermarket audio setup in there. Might as well add some subs if I am going that far. I could then tether my phone or make it a hot spot and then access the net on it, then again, I will be bringing my laptop.

I think building something that can track and send the GPS info to say google maps would be cool. Something that is completely automated, again I could use my phone but what is the fun in that?

I will be bringing my XL-1 so maybe I will grab up a Canon Rebel and use that for pictures. The XL-1 takes horrible stills.

Hmm… I feel the need to hit newegg up and look at things. This is going to get expensive fast for no reason. It’s going to be awesome.

So I am going through some of my saved items and through various websites where I find schematics or ideas to create things. I have come to the sad realization that most of the shit I have saved or bookmarked is absofuckinglutely useless. What I need to do is make a list of the things I would like to have or any kind of functionality. Part of the reason of this trip is to give me something to do, to build something and use my current knowledge as well as learn some new stuff.

I will update later as I figure out what the fuck.

I have been away for quite some fucking time, but whatever. I know this doesn’t have audio and blah blah. Just be glad I am typing it.

A bunch of unexpected things has popped up in the past year so thats part of my excuse, the other is that I am lazy. I have been in a slump lately. No fucking idea what to do or what direction to go in. I won’t be at my place for much longer most likely. I will miss it as we have had quite the shenanigans here and I will be reduced to an apartment till I can scrounge money to get another house. We will have a couple wild parties before that point, then we shall look fondly at the days when we raised hell in this house of the devil. Work also seems to be destabilizing, being stuck in a buy out and unsure as to what the future hold kinda sucks. I am left with a new feeling of doing something. If I get canned where do I go? What should I do in the interim before a new job? I think I have found the answer. I shall embark on a journey. I don’t know where to exactly, I have a small list of where I think I might go.

Not sure if that actually links to my map but whatever, if it doesn’t I will fix it later. Whats that? What will I do on my journey? Fucked if I know. Maybe I will find someone who wants to go with me and we can raise hell or I could just venture it alone and see if I make it back alive. I have been having this weird sense of just getting up and doing soemthing. Go out and find my place in the world type thing. I have recently been pondering about the whole “finding a reason to live” idealism. I then realized that there is no reason to live. We all just find justifications for our existence. Well then, I am going to justify mine by doing whatever the fuck I want and being me god damnit!.

I think I will find a new vehicle that would help on this journey. I will then outfit it with electronics and various other things that I will make specifically for it. Doesn’t need to get good gas mileage but it needs to be roomy. I think a Land Rover will do well assuming I can find one at a decent price. The electronics I will have to make will probably be along the lines of tracking then make a site that tracks it. I will also bring cameras to document this adventure. Figure out a plugin system to automatically update the blog with video/photo/audio.

I should probably get a new laptop as well to do this..

Today I was surfing the local car forums when someone posted a video and a excerpt from some news source. It talks about what the Russians did to the Somali pirates.
